"Why the frack am I such a god damned coward?!" Pounding her head against the wall she berated herself. A single tear fell down her face as she leaned her forehead
against the wall and bit her lip hard, her hand clutching for anything to hold onto. Finding a jacket hanging on the wall she turned to face away from the wall and slid
down until she was sitting with her knees under her chin. Everything had been going so well. He had seemed to like her well enough. The first date was wonderful and everything
she could have asked for. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. And that was what had her in tears. It had been 5 dates and he had not shown his intentions one
way or the other. Everyone kept asking how things were going and as far as she knew things were... Fuck she didn't know how things were going. She leaned her head back against
the wall and wondered again why she just didn't have the balls to tell him how she felt. It was such a simple thing to say. And yet so hard to actually get out. How many times
before had she been hurt when she had given her all. She was terrified of letting him know how she actually felt and have him turn and walk away. How many times had that happened? Starting to cry again she dropped her head on to her knees. Suddenly her head shot up. Her phone beeped once. Then twice. That was his ring tone. Sniffling, she scrambled for her phone that lay on the bed where she had tossed it in frustration. Picking up her phone she saw the texts from him. "I forgot something at your place." "Mind if I stop by again?" Quickly wiping at her face she struggled with shaking fingers to type a reply. "Sure! No problem. Doors open." Drawing a shaking breath she tried to calm herself. Can't let him see me like this. Breathing deeply she wiped at her face and walked to the bathroom to clean her face up. Moments later there was a knock at the door. Feeling terror deep in the pit of her stomach she walked forwards towards the door.
Standing in front of the door she shook her hands to try and relieve some of the stress and built up tension she had. Mentally berating herself again she finally reached for the door. Opening it she looked up at him and smiled. "Hey, what did you..." But she didn't get more than that out. He had rushed forward and grabbed her waist and placed a hand behind her head and kissed her fiercely. Shock over took her for a moment but before she knew it she had her arms wrapped tightly around him.  The moment seemed to last forever. Finally they pulled apart gasping for air. She choked back a sob which turned into a laugh. He looked down at her with such warmth that another
tear fell down her face. She ducked her head to hide that rare display of emotion to him. His hand came down and gently lifted her chin so she was looking back at him. He smiled again and kissed her cheek where the tear sat. As he pulled back he whispered "I couldn't leave without telling you this. It's been driving me crazy and I just couldn't wait. I wanted to make sure you knew before I left. I would like to see you again when I get back into town. Can we do that?"
She laughed again, more a giggle as she didn't have breath for much else. She nodded quickly before he decided to change his mind. "I would love that." "Then it's a date." She wrapped her arms around him again and buried her face into his chest and breathed deep. Wrapping her in his arms, he placed the side of his head on the top of hers. Squeezing her he whispered again "I love you."
